In Korea, people exchange business cards very frequently. There are rules of etiquette to keep in mind. If you receive a business card during a meeting, you should keep it in front of you. It's also a sign of respect to give or receive a card using both hands. Business cards are not limited to business settings. Friends exchange them as well. Office workers carry a card case filled with their business cards. People have piles of cards at their desks. It's easy to save contacts on a phone. Some apps even scan business cards automatically. This might make business cards seem out of date. But for now, they are a big part of social life.

 

[해석]

한국에서는 명함을 자주 교환하게 된다. 기억해야 할 예의범절도 있다. 회의 중에 명함을 받으면 앞에 두는 것이 좋다. 또한 명함을 주거나 받을 때 두 손을 쓰는 것이 예의 바른 방법이다. 명함은 업무석상에서만 사용되는 것이 아니다. 친구들끼리도 교환할 수 있다. 직장인들은 명함이 가득 들어 있는 명함 케이스를 들고 다닌다. 책상에는 명함이 수북이 쌓여 있기 일쑤다. 연락처를 휴대폰에 저장하면 쉽다. 심지어 명함을 자동으로 스캔하는 앱도 있다. 이 때문에 명함은 구식 같아 보일 수도 있다. 하지만 아직까지는 사회 생활에서 중요한 물건임에는 분명하다.

keep in mind
염두에 두다, 유념하다, 기억하다

영어에서 mind는 '마음'을 뜻하기도 하지만, 감성적인 '마음'보다는 좀 더 이성적인 '정신' 혹은 '사고'의 뜻에 더 가깝다.

 

예) Keep in mind that you have a meeting at 2 o'clock. (2시에 미팅 있는 거 기억해.)
Keep that advice in mind. (그 조언 염두에 두렴.)
