[Study Group Questions]

1. What aspects of your life have been made more convenient thanks to new technologies?
2. Think of a useful new tool, gadget, or feature for the home. How would it work?
3. What are some of the pros and cons of living in an apartment?

[Response]

Our home is an old apartment. It's over 30 years old, but the inside is surprisingly high-tech. My husband is an early adopter who majored in electrical engineering, and he replaced every light switch with Wi-Fi-enabled ones. So, we now have an internet-of-things setup that we can control with our voices.
At first, I complained that he was wasting money replacing switches that were perfectly fine. But when I come home late at night and say "I'm home," the living room lights turn on instantly. When I lie in bed and say, "I'm going to sleep," all the lights turn off. Once I experienced that kind of convenience, my attitude completely changed.
It's especially amazing when I come home with both hands full of groceries and I can turn on the lights with just a word. Thanks to my clever husband, I can enjoy a smart and convenient lifestyle even in an old apartment. I am really grateful for that.
