[해석]

우리 가족은 장거리 가족입니다. 저와 남편은 한국에, 딸은 텍사스에, 아들은 뉴욕에 살고 있어요. 남편이 20년 전 상사 주재원으로 미국에 발령받았습니다. 그 후 두 아이는 모두 그곳에 남아 대학을 졸업하고 거기서 살아가고 있습니다.
아이들 없이 부부끼리 지내는 삶은 한결 여유롭고 편안합니다. 하지만 곁에서 지켜볼 수 없다는 아쉬움도 분명히 존재합니다. 그래도 요즘은 기술이 발달한 덕분에 매일 영상 통화를 하며 서로의 안부를 묻고 가족의 정을 이어 갑니다.
딸은 소소한 일상을 재미있게 공유해 줍니다. 아들은 무뚝뚝한 편이지만, 그래도 일주일에 꼭 한 번씩은 전화를 줍니다. 저는 훗날 태어날 손주들과 자연스럽게 대화하기 위해 매일 <입트영>으로 영어 공부에 매진하고 있습니다. 비록 장거리 가족이지만 제가 참 행복한 사람이라는 생각에 감사하는 마음입니다.

Our family lives far apart. My husband and I live in Korea, our daughter lives in Texas, and our son lives in New York. Twenty years ago, my husband was assigned to the U.S. by his company. Both of our children stayed there, graduated from college, and built their lives there.
Life as a couple without the kids is more relaxed and comfortable. But we're also sad that we can't be nearby to watch over them. Still, thanks to technology these days, we make video calls every day to keep up with each other and stay connected.
Our daughter likes to share moments from her daily life in a fun way. Our son is more reserved, but he still makes sure to call us at least once a week. I study English every day with "입트영" so that one day I'll be able to speak fluently with my future grandchildren. Even though we're a long-distance family, I feel grateful and consider myself a happy person.
